Mexico City Convention – Buenos Aires Convention

The Mexico City Convention (South America) is a regional convention on the recognition of higher education studies, diplomas, and degrees in Latin America and the Caribbean Region. It was adopted in Mexico City on July 19, 1974, and it came into force on June 14, 1975. It was ratified by 17 countries (but two of them withdrew from the Convention later on). 15 out of 38 potential member countries are part of UNESCO’s Latin American region.

After the elaboration of an updated text since the year 2013, the revised Convention has been adopted on 13 July 2019 at Buenos Aires, signed also by the Holy See.
